A Note from the PTSO
Another school year is here again and it’s time to settle into new or familiar routines. On behalf of the PTSO (Parent Teacher Student Organization) we would like to welcome all the new families attending EMCA this year and welcome all returning families! By the end of the year new friends will be made and many worthwhile experiences will be had by all of us.
When I became the parent of children in grade school, I really had no idea what the PTSO was all about. I went to my first meeting and was overwhelmed by the PTSO’s desire to raise money, bake brownies and recruit volunteers. At the time I made a commitment to join the PTSO and become a certified board member in the capacity of Classroom Representative!
Now that I am an “experienced” grade school parent, I know that PTSO’s are formed to enhance our children’s years in school. Without a PTSO (or similar parent-teacher group) to raise funds and sponsor events, our children would be missing out on what many of us consider to be quintessential school experiences. Before I got involved, I did not realize that school budgets cannot cover the full cost of field trips or the many special programs offered.
The PTSO Co-Presidents met over the summer and tried to lay out a fundraising and event calendar that will be fun, practical and not a constant demand on your wallet. We are confident that by working with the fantastic EMCA families we can meet our fundraising goals and provide the children with the opportunities made possible by this school year calendar and budget.
This year’s slogan is “Each One Reach One”. There are many supportive families here at EMCA. We ask everyone to reach out and invite someone to volunteer or help with an activity or event. EMCA has an open door policy and we encourage everyone to help make our school the best it can be for our children and our community. Remember, even small endeavors have a large impact. Every seemingly little bit and effort will go a long way toward making this a memorable, enriching, and educational year. A Volunteer Interest Form is included in this letter, no commitment is required, but all time and energy shared is appreciated.
Here’s to a great year!
